TECH SKILLS

EXTENDED BIO

I graduated summa cum laude in May 2019 from Macaulay Honors College at Baruch with a degree in actuarial science. During college, I passed three actuarial exams (Probability, Financial Mathematic, and Models for Financial Economics) and worked as an actuarial intern at two different companies. While studying to be an actuary and getting some experience in the field, I was introduced to coding. I took two classes in C++, a class in R, and learned SQL and VBA working as an intern. By my senior year in college, I had decided that I was far more passionate about coding than I ever was about actuarial science and decided to change career paths.

Right out of college, I started teaching myself Python and working for my friend who had started his own e-commerce business. I was able to streamline the shipping and handling portion of the business's operation by developing a Python GUI, utilizing pandas and tkinter, that organized data from the e-commerce platforms and created custom packing slips, designed to maximize efficiency.

In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, I made the decision to enroll in App Academy to expand my technical skills and meet new people who also had a passion for coding. I learned Ruby on Rails, Javascript, React, Redux, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Express, NodeJS, and a multitude of other technologies.

Currently, I'm looking for opportunities to work as a software engineer.
